Who Is Milluki Zoldyck?

Milluki Zoldyck is a supporting antagonist in the anime and manga series Hunter x Hunter, created by Yoshihiro Togashi. He is the second eldest child of Silva and Kikyo Zoldyck, making him the younger brother of Illumi and the older brother of Killua, Alluka, and Kalluto. Unlike the rest of his notoriously athletic and physically lethal family, Milluki stands out due to his distinct lifestyle and specialized skillset.

Appearance

Milluki Zoldyck stands out dramatically from the rest of his elite assassin family due to his distinctly obese physique, which stems from a highly sedentary otaku lifestyle and a passion for snacks. Standing at 182 cm (5'11.5") and weighing 141 kg (311 lbs), his appearance is often used as a source of comedy, earning him the nickname "Piggy" from his younger brother Killua.

He has short-trimmed, straight black hair that is cleanly parted right down the middle. His eyes are black, narrow, and perpetually squinty or dark. He usually sports a smug, irritable, or easily panicked expression, reflecting his hot-headed yet cowardly nature.

Milluki’s clothing is relatively simple and casual compared to the elaborate outfits worn by his family members like Kikyo or Kalluto. In the 2011 Hunter x Hunter anime adaptation he wears a short-sleeved, button-up pink dress shirt, paired with white jeans and brown shoes. In the 1999 anime, his dress shirt is plain white, and he pairs it with blue track pants featuring white racing stripes down the sides.

Personality

Milluki Zoldyck is characterized as a short-tempered, selfish, and highly immature individual who starkly contrasts the cold, stoic demeanor of his fellow elite assassins in the Zoldyck Family. As the second eldest son, he serves as the family's resident tech expert but functions primarily as a comedic and petulant foil to his younger brother, Killua.

Milluki is a textbook shut-in (hikikomori) and otaku. He has rarely stepped foot outside the Zoldyck family estate since the age of 10, choosing instead to spend almost all of his time locked away in his bedroom. He is intensely protective of his massive collection of anime figurines, manga, and video games, even threatening to kill Killua if his collection is ever touched.

Despite being 17 years old, Milluki behaves much like a spoiled child. He still refers to his parents as "mama" and "papa," and addresses his older brother as "Illu-nii" (Big Brother Illumi). He is incredibly prone to temper tantrums, especially when he feels underappreciated by his grandfather Zeno or when he fails to outsmart Killua.

While Milluki is perfectly comfortable torturing a chained-up Killua or acting arrogant behind a computer screen, he is an inherent coward when physically confronted. He is secretly terrified of Killua’s raw strength and martial potential, meaning he rarely pushes his brother far enough to genuinely anger him. Furthermore, he is completely submissive to authority, never daring to disobey his father, Silva, or his grandfather.

Though physically lazy and out of shape, Milluki possesses an incredibly sharp, brilliant mind for technology. He is a genius-level programmer, an expert hacker, and a talented inventor, responsible for crafting Killua's iconic 50-kilogram custom yo-yos. However, his grander ambitions are often derailed by his lack of drive; for instance, he quickly gives up on getting the legendary game Greed Island the moment the financial and physical barriers become too tedious.

True to his Nen type as a Manipulator, Milluki is highly calculating and transactional. He has a cruel, perfidious streak, famously manipulating Alluka's wish-granting rules for personal, petty gains, such as ordering a target to be eliminated just to see how the ability worked, or using a wish simply to obtain a top-tier computer. He rarely does favors out of the kindness of his heart, always expecting a trade-off, like demanding a share of game data or money from Killua.

Background

Like all Zoldyck children, Milluki was trained from infancy in core assassination arts, building a baseline resistance to poisons, high-voltage electricity, and physical trauma. At approximately age 10, Milluki stopped leaving the Zoldyck Family estate. He shifted his focus entirely away from traditional frontline combat to specialize in computer programming, highly advanced hacking, and specialized weapons engineering.

His father, Silva Zoldyck, permitted Milluki's lifestyle swap because his intellectual contributions, acting as the family's modern information hub and remote target tracker, remain highly valuable to their multi-billion dollar operation. Milluki has an intensely strained relationship with his younger brother, Killua. He strongly envies Killua's status as the chosen family heir and the favoritism shown to him by their grandfather, Zeno.

Milluki was one of the first family members to figure out and exploit the strict rules governing Alluka's reality-warping abilities, utilizing them selfishly to clear targets or acquire high-end computers.

Milluki works predominantly behind the scenes on Kukuroo Mountain, but his tech expertise directly drives several critical plots. Milluki briefly left the estate for the first time in a decade to attend the Southernpiece Auction in Yorknew City. He attempted to purchase a copy of the mythical game Greed Island using borrowed funds, but failed due to being outbid. He later helped Killua by explaining the game's memory card mechanics.

During the high-stakes arc to save Gon's life, Milluki assisted his eldest brother, Illumi, by hacking into the surveillance feed of Tsubone's communication glasses. This allowed Illumi to track Killua and Alluka's precise movements in real-time.

Powers and Abilities

In Hunter x Hunter, Milluki Zoldyck's abilities lie entirely in his high-level intellect, elite hacking skills, and inventive genius. While he possesses the baseline superhuman physical traits shared by all members of the Zoldyck Family due to his upbringing, he lacks the raw combat prowess of his siblings. Instead, he serves the family business as a remote support specialist and tech expert.

Physical and Combat Abilities

  • Elite Hacking: He is a master hacker capable of infiltrating highly secure databases. He successfully hacked into the Hunter Association's network to gather data on Greed Island, a feat few in the world can achieve.

  • Advanced Engineering: He builds his own complex weapons and surveillance equipment. Notably, he invented miniature bomb-carrying micro-drones designed to look like mosquitoes, which can detonate upon contact with a target.

  • Custom Weapon Design: He is the creator of the dual 50-kilogram custom yo-yos that Killua uses as his primary physical weapons throughout the series.

  • Information Brokerage: He serves as an internal intelligence node for the family, using his technical setup to locate targets, analyze software, and track rare commodities.

  • High Pain Tolerance: He is completely unbothered by receiving standard physical punishments. He is shown eating snacks casually while being whipped repeatedly by his mother, Kikyo.

  • Poison Immunity: Like all Zoldycks, he was subjected to poison conditioning from a young age and is highly resistant, if not entirely immune, to most lethal toxins.

  • Superhuman Strength Basics: Even though he is considered physically weak by family standards, his baseline genetics and training mean his physical strength still vastly outmatches an ordinary person.

  • Combat Weakness: Despite his lineage, Milluki is not a field operative. He lacks strategic physical combat instincts, runs away from direct physical threats, and is visibly intimidated by the raw killing intent of his younger brother, Killua.

Nen Affinity and Abilities

Nen (念) is a fundamental power system that allows individuals to control their life energy, known as aura. By manipulating their aura, Nen users can create unique supernatural abilities called Hatsu, enhancing their physical capabilities or creating complex, personal powers.

  • Nen Affinity: According to official Hunter x Hunter databooks, Milluki's Nen type is Manipulation. He combines his aura with engineering, actively boasting about developing microscopic, malaria-carrying assassin mosquitoes rigged with miniature bombs to eliminate targets at a distance without physically being there. However, the official chart released by Yoshihiro Togashi places him in the intermediate zone between Manipulation and Specialization. This suggests that his Nen has unique properties that defy traditional categorization, making it easier for him to potentially cross over into Specialization later in life.

  • Nen Abilities: While a named combat ability hasn't been shown, Milluki relies entirely on non-physical intellect, hacking, and remote weapons. He uses Nen primarily to complement his life as a shut-in otaku and tech genius:

    • Mosquito Bomb Ideation: Milluki mentions a plan to engineer a highly explosive, microscopic bomb inside a malaria-carrying mosquito. He intends to use his Nen to control and direct the insect to explode perfectly on target.

    • Information and IT Support: His family relies heavily on him for technology and intel gathering. Fans frequently theorize that his "leaning Specialist" trait translates into an information-based Hatsu used to manipulate software or bypass complex cybersecurity systems.

    • Fan Theory (Order Stamp): Due to Milluki's massive obsession with action figures and dolls, a popular community theory suggests he could be the original creator of Order Stamp, the Manipulation ability Chrollo Lucilfer borrows to control a vast army of human puppets. However, this remains speculative unconfirmed lore.

Goals and Reputation

Unlike his siblings who are burdened by familial hierarchy, Milluki mostly seeks an indulgent, uninterrupted lifestyle. His most proactive arc involves his obsession with securing a copy of the legendary game Greed Island. He even temporarily left his decade-long reclusion and negotiated a 15-person assassination bounty with his father just to secure the funds to buy it.

He is deeply protective of his massive anime, manga, video game, figure, and merch collection, going as far as threatening to murder Killua if he touches his figurines. Milluki leverages whatever leverage he has, including using his sister Alluka’s reality-warping powers on separate occasions, to easily wipe out a target or lazily wish for a cutting-edge computer.

Within the universe of the story, Milluki's status is directly tied to the elite infrastructure of the Zoldyck Family. He is the designated backend operations manager. He creates high-level weaponry (such as Killua’s 50kg custom yo-yos), hacks international data nets, and manages digital security.

While his grandfather Zeno Zoldyck occasionally dismisses his niche inventions, like a micro-bomb attached to a blood-sucking mosquito, the family fully acknowledges his brilliance. They respect his choice to eschew physical combat because his information-gathering directly enables their high-profile contracts. Though physically unthreatening, he holds the signature Zoldyck coldness. He views human targets merely as tasks or numbers, showcasing the same lack of empathy as his older brother Illumi.

The Hunter x Hunter community views Milluki through a mix of humor and canonical analysis. Fans frequently label him a "Discord Moderator," a "Redditor," or jokingly refer to him as "Levi Snackerman". His sedentary lifestyle, hot-tempered tantrums, and the fact that he still unironically calls his parents "Mama" and "Papa" make him an endless source of comedic memes.

Deeper analysis highlights that Milluki is actually incredibly terrifying. Fans point out that as a confirmed Manipulator/Specialist type who has undergone basic Zoldyck torture resistance training, his ability to weaponize technology makes him a lethal modern assassin who doesn't need physical prowess to end lives.

Some fans find his character endearing or tragic, viewing him as a classic overlooked middle child. Because his parents hyper-focused on the firstborn (Illumi) and the prodigal heir (Killua), Milluki was left with the rare freedom to develop his own eccentric hobbies.
