Nejire Hado, also known by her hero name Nejire-Chan, is a prominent supporting character in the anime and manga series My Hero Academia. Nejire is a third-year student at U.A. High School and part of "The Big 3," the academy's three strongest and most prominent students, alongside Mirio Togata and Tamaki Amajiki.

Appearance
Nejire Hado is a tall, fair-skinned girl with a shapely, feminine build. She has distinctive periwinkle blue hair that typically reaches down to her knees, with two sections twisting at her waist and the ends curving inwards around her legs. She is often seen with a wide smile, reflecting her cheerful and curious personality.
Nejire has wide, round, and curious light royal blue eyes, featuring long, thick upper eyelashes and unique white pupils. Her hair has side-swept bangs that are tucked behind her right ear and hang just over her left eye. During the Paranormal Liberation War arc, her hair was notably burned to shoulder-length, and she developed a scar on her left cheek, but these injuries later healed. In later appearances her hair is chin-length.
At school, she wears the standard U.A. High school uniform but occasionally substitutes the blazer with a waistcoat. Her hero costume is a royal blue skin-tight bodysuit with a high black collar, pale mint green markings, and yellow gloves. She also has large wrist accessories and black wraps around her legs/thighs. Within the series universe Nejire is widely considered attractive and is generally described as being more "cute" than "sexy" by the boys at U.A.
Personality
Nejire is a cheerful, enthusiastic, and highly curious person who acts as a "free spirit". She has a genuine passion for learning new and strange things and often bombards people with questions, which can sometimes come across as air-headed or overly enthusiastic.
She is generally friendly, open, and unafraid to speak her mind or express her feelings.
Inquisitive: Her most defining trait is her boundless curiosity. She loves to know more about others and the world around her, not in a proud way, but for the joy of learning and sharing knowledge.
Nejire has a kind heart, as demonstrated when she shows a caring side to Eri by doing her hair and playing with her. Yet, despite her generally happy-go-lucky and somewhat childish demeanor, she is a fierce and focused fighter when the situation calls for it, taking her role as a hero very seriously.
While she may seem air-headed, she demonstrates great judgment and aptitude in combat situations and can be very calm under pressure. It is also noted that when she first arrived at U.A. High, she was initially cold and distant because other students shunned her due to her powerful Quirk. However, befriending Mirio Togata and Tamaki Amajiki helped her open up, leading to the cheerful attitude she has today.
Background
In middle school, Nejire had an extremely curious and inquisitive nature, constantly asking questions about her classmates' Quirks. However, other students mistook her curiosity as her looking down on them due to her own powerful Quirk, causing them to shun her. As a result, she became cold and distant.
Her personality changed when she met Mirio Togata and Tamaki Amajiki. Tamaki awkwardly approached her one day, asking her about her favorite hero. This interaction led to their friendship, which helped Nejire regain her confidence and open up to others, leading to her current enthusiastic and bubbly attitude. Over time, their combined skills earned them the reputation of "The Big Three" at U.A. High.
As a third-year student, Nejire excels in her studies and practical hero work. She chose the Pro Hero Ryukyu (the Dragoon Hero) for her work studies (an advanced form of internship), participating in major operations like the Shie Hassaikai Raid.
Powers and Abilities
Nejire Hado's primary power is Wave Motion, which allows her to convert her vitality into powerful energy shockwaves that she can project from her hands or feet. She uses this Quirk for offensive blasts, creating constructs, and for limited flight. Due to the nature of her Quirk, she has developed superhuman stamina and durability through intense training.
Characteristics and Tactical Skills
Enhanced Stamina: Because her Quirk directly uses her stamina as a power source, Nejire has undergone intense training to build up an immense reservoir of vitality. This allows her to use her Quirk for extended periods and makes her highly resistant to stamina-draining abilities.
Enhanced Durability: She has demonstrated significant resilience, surviving powerful attacks such as Dabi's intense flames with only moderate burns and a torso slash from Tomura Shigaraki while continuing to fight.
High Intelligence and Technique: As a member of U.A.'s "Big 3" (the top three students), she is highly skilled and intelligent in battle, capable of adapting her Quirk's use for various strategic situations and displaying excellent judgment in high-pressure scenarios.
Quirk Powers and Fighting Styles
In the world of My Hero Academia, a Quirk is a special, superhuman ability unique to an individual, with about 80% of the population possessing one. Quirks are genetic and manifest by the age of four, and are divided into three main categories: Emitter, which allows a user to emit or control something (like fire or electricity); Transformation, which temporarily alters the user's body; and Mutant, which causes a permanent physical anomaly that often aids in their abilities
Quirk Type: Nejire's quirk is called Wave Motion (or Hadō), which is an emitter-type quirk that allows her to convert her vitality into energy and release it as powerful shockwaves. This energy can be used for both devastating offensive attacks and enhanced mobility.
Wave Motion: Nejire's Quirk allows her to convert her own vitality and stamina into pure energy and release it as powerful, spiral-shaped shockwaves. She can fire these shockwaves from her hands and feet, and can use the energy from her feet to fly or boost her physical attacks. The main drawback is that it uses her stamina, and overuse can lead to great exhaustion.
Energy Projection: She can expel powerful shockwaves from her hands as offensive blasts. The energy travels in a spiral, which makes the attacks highly powerful, but also means they are not very fast and can be dodged if the opponent is quick enough.
Flight and Mobility: By releasing energy from her feet, Nejire can propel herself through the air, granting her flight capabilities and high-speed movement.
Close-Range Combat Enhancement: Nejire can channel her energy into her physical strikes (punches and kicks), adding extra force and power to her close-range attacks.
Support and Capture: Beyond offense, she can use her waves as propellers to carry people or vehicles to safety during evacuations. She can also project waves to restrain large villains, demonstrating a high degree of control over the power output.
Nejire Wave (or Gring Wave): Nejire charges her Quirk to 30% output and unleashes two giant spiral waves from her hands simultaneously. This move is potent enough to subdue two villains with gigantification Quirks with one blast.
Pike: She channels her energy into a single, concentrated point to pierce an opponent. This focused beam can also be redirected mid-attack.
Nejire Flood: Nejire's maximum output attack (100% power), where she releases a massive blast of energy concentrated in both hands toward an opponent, forming a powerful, downward spiral waterfall of energy.
Goals and Reputation
Nejire Hado's primary goal in the My Hero Academia series is to become a Pro Hero. As a student in U.A. High School's Big Three, her actions and development within the series are consistently focused on achieving this aspiration.
Much of her time is spent in training, internships (such as with the No. 10 Pro Hero Ryukyu), and real-world battles that prepare her for a professional hero career. She actively participates in high-stakes operations, such as the Shie Hassaikai Raid to save Eri and the Paranormal Liberation War, demonstrating a strong drive to help and protect civilians and allies.
Nejire uses her "Wave Motion" Quirk not only for offense but also for support, such as acting as a propeller to carry people and vehicles to safety during the destruction of Jaku City. While she has a naturally inquisitive and at times "airheaded" personality, she demonstrates the ability to be calm, focused, and fierce in battle when the situation calls for it, essential qualities for a hero.
Following the events of the Final War arc in the manga, Nejire successfully graduates from U.A. High and becomes a professional Pro Hero. Eight years later, she is ranked as the No. 7 Pro Hero.
