Who Is Nami?

Nami, also known as "Cat Burglar" Nami, is the navigator of the Straw Hat Pirates in the anime and manga series One Piece. As a skilled thief and navigator, she initially worked with the Straw Hat Pirates with the intention of robbing them to raise money for her village. She officially joined the crew after Luffy and his friends defeated Arlong and liberated her hometown. She is the third member to join Monkey D. Luffy's crew, after Zoro and Sanji. Her dream is to create a complete map of the entire world.

Appearance

Nami is an attractive, slim young woman of average height with long, waist-length orange hair and light brown eyes. She has a curvaceous, hourglass figure and wears a blue tattoo of a mikan and pinwheels on her left shoulder. Her outfit often changes, but her main look involves a green and white bikini halter top, tight blue jeans, orange high-heeled sandals, and a gold bracelet on her left wrist. 

Personality

Due to her traumatic past, Nami developed a deep obsession with money and treasure, though she is willing to give it up for the sake of her friends. Though initially mistrustful of pirates, her bonds with the Straw Hat crew have made her fiercely loyal and protective of her friends. She is one of the smartest and most quick-witted members of the crew, and her rational mind often keeps the others, particularly Luffy, out of trouble.

Background

Nami was found as an infant by the marine officer Bell-mère during a war on an unknown island in the East Blue. Bell-mère also rescued another orphan named Nojiko, and she took both girls back to her home in Cocoyasi Village. Bell-mère adopted Nami and Nojiko and raised them as her own children on a tangerine farm. After Arlong took over Cocoyasi Village and imposed a high monthly tribute on every resident, Bell-mère was executed in front of Nami and Nojiko because she could only afford the tribute for her daughters and not herself, but defiantly refused to say they were not her children.

Powers and Abilities

Nami's powers come primarily from her advanced knowledge of weather-related phenomena, meteorology, and her partnership with the thundercloud homie, Zeus. Nami is also skilled in navigation, cartography, and finance management.

Clima-Tact Skills

Nami's Clima-Tact skills are an evolution of her "Art of Weather" fighting style, which manipulates the climate of her surroundings. The techniques vary depending on the version of the staff she is using and have grown significantly more powerful over time, especially with the addition of Big Mom's homie, Zeus.

Original Clima-Tact

• Heat, Cool, and Thunder Balls: The base components of her attacks, these air bubbles produce heat, cold, or electricity.

• Thunderbolt Tempo: Creates and electrifies a thundercloud by mixing heat and cool bubbles, summoning a lightning strike.

• Mirage Tempo: Produces a mirage of Nami to confuse opponents by using cool bubbles in a hot, dry environment to alter the air density.

• Cyclone Tempo: Shoots a spinning, "X"-shaped piece of the staff at an opponent, creating a powerful wind upon impact.

• Tornado Tempo: A single-use attack where clockwork doves spring from the staff to ensnare an opponent before launching them away with centrifugal force.

Perfect Clima-Tact

• Thunder Lance Tempo: Creates a small, dense storm cloud that discharges a powerful and concentrated bolt of lightning.

• Mirage Tempo: Fata Morgana: An enhanced version of Mirage Tempo that creates five distinct illusions of Nami to confuse enemies.

• Dark Cloud Tempo: A condensed thundercloud is generated, which Nami can use to execute other lightning attacks.

• Thunder Charge: Nami charges the staff with electricity, which can be used for a direct strike or as part of another technique.

• Rain Tempo: Creates a cloud and makes it rain, useful for countering attacks like Kalifa's Devil Fruit ability. 

Sorcery Clima-Tact

• Thunder Breed Tempo: An egg hatches a large thundercloud that Nami can use to direct concentrated lightning at opponents.

• Gust Sword: Releases a pressurized bubble of air as a sharp, high-speed gust of wind.

• Black Ball: Raiun Rod: Nami creates a long chain of electrically charged clouds and swings it around to electrocute multiple enemies.

• Heat Egg: Produces a bubble of intense heat from the tip of the staff, strong enough to melt snow.

• Milky Road/Ball: Creates a path or a defensive wall using "sea clouds".

Sorcery Clima-Tact with Zeus

• Zeus Breeze Tempo: Nami feeds Zeus her own thunderclouds, causing him to grow into a massive size to unleash an enormous lightning strike.

• Raitei (Thunderbolt): A powerful lightning attack used with Zeus to deliver a devastating electric discharge capable of defeating a durable opponent like Ulti in a single strike.

• Zeus Enhancements: Since Zeus's soul lives within the staff, it can now temporarily transfer his consciousness to the clouds Nami summons, making her attacks faster and harder to avoid.

Navigator and Treasurer Skills

Nami serves as the crew’s brilliant navigator and treasurer, ensuring they do not lose their way while sailing.

• Navigation: With an almost supernatural ability to sense changes in the weather, Nami’s expertise allows the ship to survive the notoriously volatile weather of the Grand Line.

• Cartography: Nami is a talented cartographer, and her dream of mapping the entire world is the driving force behind her piracy.

• Financial Expertise: Nami serves as the crew's de facto treasurer, controlling the money and prioritizing purchases, much to the chagrin of her often-reckless crewmates.

Goals and Reputation

Nami's main goal in One Piece is to draw a complete map of the entire world. This is a daunting task, as the seas of the One Piece world—particularly the Grand Line—are treacherous and unpredictable. Her reputation evolved significantly as she transformed from a distrustful thief into the Straw Hat Pirates' fiercely loyal navigator. 

While still prone to fear, Nami has proven her immense bravery by confronting powerful enemies to protect her friends and defend Luffy's dream. This includes standing up to Emperor-tier opponents like Kaido and Big Mom's top commanders, which helped increase her current bounty to 366,000,000 berries following the Raid on Onigashima.
