Roll Over and Die (fully titled Roll Over and Die: I Will Fight for an Ordinary Life with My Love and Cursed Sword!!) is a Japanese dark fantasy, grimdark light novel series written by kiki. It has since expanded into popular manga and anime adaptations. The story follows a subversion of the "banished from the hero's party" trope, incorporating heavy elements of action, horror, and Yuri romance.

A young girl named Flum Apricot is commanded by a divine prophecy to join the Hero’s party to defeat the Demon Lord. However, Flum possesses zero combat stats and a seemingly useless innate ability called "Reversal". Deeming her to be a completely useless dead weight, the party's sadistic sage, Jean Inteige, cruelly sells Flum into slavery rather than simply letting her go.

Flum's master throws her into a dungeon pit filled with ghouls for entertainment. To survive, she grabs a cursed sword that normally melts and kills anyone who touches it. This triggering event awakens the true nature of her "Reversal" ability: it reverses the negative effects of curses and debuffs into immense positive stat boosts and healing factors. By actively seeking out and equipping cursed items that would destroy normal humans, Flum becomes an incredibly powerful fighter.

After escaping her captivity, Flum rescues a heavily traumatized, injured fellow slave girl named Milkit. Rejecting her original grand heroic destiny, Flum vows to fight the dark, corrupt forces of her world, including an evil church, solely to protect Milkit and reclaim a normal, peaceful life alongside the girl she loves.

• Sheitoom (The Demon Lord): The current ruler of the demon race and daughter of the previous Demon Lord. Far from a ruthless tyrant, she is a deeply responsible leader who actively ordered the evacuation of various demon villages to prevent collateral damage and protect her people from the invading Hero's party.

• Neigass: A powerful female Demon General and investigator who crosses paths with the main cast. She is lighthearted, deeply sympathetic, and highly civilized, preferring diplomatic discussion over unnecessary violence. She forms a close, protective bond with Flum's ally, Sara Anvilen, and ultimately saves her from execution.

• Tsyon: A prominent demon warrior, childhood friend of Sheitoom and Neigass, and one of the core figures navigating the demon realm's defense against human incursions. He is noticeably more stuck-up and arrogant than Neigass.

Main Antagonists

• Dein Phineas: An A-ranked adventurer who acts as a primary antagonist in the capital. He rules his criminal faction with an iron fist, repeatedly attempting to sabotage Flum's career and kill her.

• Mich Smithee: A burly, manipulative antagonist working alongside the Church. She acts as an abusive, twisted mother-figure to the "Spiral Children".

• The Church of Origin: The overarching antagonistic organization. They orchestrate gruesome human transportations, experimentations, and create horrific, mutated monstrosities.

• Satils Francois: Milkit’s former owner. Out of extreme jealousy because Milkit looked prettier than her, Satils intentionally poisoned and scarred Milkit's face. This forced Milkit to wear bandages to hide the disfigurement. Satils frequently bought young slaves from the Unnamed Slave Merchant specifically because younger targets were "more responsive to torture". Despite widespread rumors about her sadistic crimes, Satils was heavily protected by the Church of Origin, meaning almost no one in the kingdom dared to oppose her. After Flum kills the slave merchant and saves Milkit, Satils discovers that Milkit is still alive and has managed to cure her facial poisoning. Infuriated, Satils orchestrates a kidnapping plot to capture Milkit so she can resume torturing her.
