Core Premise

The story follows Takuto Ira, who spends his last days in a hospital playing his favorite strategy game, Eternal Nations. He is a legendary player and a master tactician. After passing away, Takuto awakens in a fantasy world called Idoragya that closely resembles Eternal Nations. He has been reincarnated as the god of Mynoghra, the game's most challenging and powerful "evil" civilization.

Takuto is reunited with Sludge Atou, the hero unit of Mynoghra, and together they decide to conquer the world. Using his extensive knowledge of the game and its mechanics, Takuto begins to rebuild Mynoghra, expanding its ruined civilization and facing off against other powerful empires. He uses clever, and often ruthless, strategies to exploit the game's systems.

However, the world soon becomes more complex as Takuto realizes other players have also been reborn there, bringing with them characters and mechanics from different game genres. Takuto's strategy game logic clashes with heroes from a classic JRPG and antagonists from a tabletop RPG, adding layers of unpredictable conflict.

Key Themes

The story explores the friction between game mechanics and reality, forcing Takuto to adapt his strategies and revealing his game-breaking abilities have real-world consequences. Along the way, it examines several key themes that breathe life into the world, the players, and the video game characters, creating an entirely new existence.

  • Subversion of Good vs. Evil: The series recontextualizes the game's mechanics in a real-world setting. Despite being labeled an "evil god," Takuto is kind-hearted and seeks only to live in peace. In stark contrast, the supposedly "good" human nations are plagued by racism and corruption, persecuting non-human races and driving them out of their homes.

  • Found Family: As Takuto and Atou establish their new settlement in the "cursed forest," they begin to attract refugees of various races fleeing the human kingdoms. Mynoghra becomes a peaceful, prosperous haven for those unjustly labeled as evil.

  • Cycles of Violence: The series shows how generations of persecution can lead to deep-seated trauma and a thirst for revenge. This is explored through characters who are so damaged by their past that they initially distrust Takuto's genuine kindness and seek violence.

  • The Consequences of Power: Takuto's cheat-like abilities from the game have real and lasting effects on the new world. This forces him to reckon with the consequences of his actions in a way that wasn't possible in the game, adding a layer of moral complexity to his decisions.

Characters

The central characters of Apocalypse Bringer Mynoghra are Takuto Ira, a human reincarnated as an Evil God, and Atou, his most loyal "Hero" unit. The story follows their mission to rebuild the evil civilization of Mynoghra in a fantasy world.

Main Characters

Takuto Ira: Also known as the Nameless Evil God and the King of Ruin, Takuto is formerly a bedridden human who was a legendary player of the strategy game Eternal Nations. After dying, he is reborn in a fantasy world as the god of his favorite, and most difficult, evil civilization, Mynoghra. Takuto is intelligent and strategic, with an aim to conquer the world and create a safe haven for his followers.

Sludge Witch Atou: Takuto's most trusted Hero unit and a powerful witch. She is fiercely loyal to Takuto, a feeling that has grown into love. Atou is devoted and protective of Takuto, but also prone to jealousy of anyone else who gets close to him. Together, they experienced the game of Eternal Nations countless times before both being reborn into this new fantasy world.

Takuto and Isla help to open their hearts, but when Isla dies, the twins must take on her power as a Hero by consuming her heart.

Gia Nageev Mazaram: A warrior who leads the dark elf combat squad in the defence of Mynoghra.

Moltar Cordal Mazaram: A magic user who helps to support Takuko both with diplomatic issues and in combat.
